What is the AND Function
The AND function returns TRUE only if all the conditions you give it are true. If even one condition is false, AND returns FALSE. It is used when you want to test that every requirement is met before taking an action.
Formula: =AND(logical1, [logical2], ...)
Practical Example 1
A student passes only if marks are 40 or above AND attendance is 75 or above. Marks are in B2 and attendance is in C2.
Type: =AND(B2>=40, C2>=75)
Result: TRUE if both conditions are met, otherwise FALSE
Practical Example 2
Combine AND with IF to show a message instead of TRUE or FALSE.
Type: =IF(AND(B2>=40, C2>=75), Pass, Fail)
Result: Pass or Fail
Practical Example 3
You have three conditions: sales above 1000, region equals Dhaka, and status equals Active.
Type: =AND(D2>1000, A2=Dhaka, C2=Active)
Result: TRUE only when all three are met
When to Use It
AND is used for eligibility checks such as loan approval, exam pass rules, employee bonuses, and any business rule where multiple conditions must all be satisfied at once.
