What is the ROUNDUP Function
The ROUNDUP function rounds a number up to a specified number of decimal places. Unlike ROUND, it always moves away from zero, never rounding down.
Formula: =ROUNDUP(number, num_digits)
Practical Example 1
A2 contains 3.141.
Type: =ROUNDUP(A2, 2)
Result: 3.15
Practical Example 2
Round up to the nearest integer.
Type: =ROUNDUP(A2, 0)
Result: 4
Practical Example 3
Calculate a minimum shipping cost.
Type: =ROUNDUP(A2, 0)
Result: the next whole number
When to Use It
ROUNDUP is used for calculating minimum charges, for rounding up quantities, for conservative budget estimates, and for any formula where you want to always round away from zero.
