What is the LARGE Function

The LARGE function returns the nth largest value from a range. It is used to find top performers, highest sales, or any ranking-based analysis where you need the value at a specific rank.

Formula: =LARGE(array, k)

Practical Example 1

Sales are in B2:B10. Get the 2nd highest sale.

Type: =LARGE(B2:B10, 2)

Result: the second highest value

Practical Example 2

Get the top 3 sales.

Type: =LARGE(B2:B10, 1) and =LARGE(B2:B10, 2) and =LARGE(B2:B10, 3)

Result: the three highest sales values

Practical Example 3

Find the highest and lowest at the same time using LARGE and SMALL.

Type: =LARGE(B2:B10, 1) - SMALL(B2:B10, 1)

Result: the range between highest and lowest

When to Use It

LARGE is used for finding top performers, for ranking sales reps, for identifying highest scores, for top-N reports, and for any analysis that needs the nth largest value.
